This adventure begins with a week in Jordan, covered in the next few pictures, then off to Israel for the major portion of this trip. Enjoy.
After 26 hours of vans, airports, and planes I finally arrive late evening in Amman Jordan. The Imperial Palace hotel is very nice by my standards and even luxurious.
Security at the hotels is high with armed guards and metal detectors at the entrances.
We visit the great King Abduallah I Mosque which is the largest in Amman.
Minarets from the mosque.
King Abduallah and family are portrayed.
The interior of the mosque is lovely.
Lovely.
I find a man reading and praying.
Photo op.
Across the street from the King Abduallah I Mosque is the largest and best known Roman Catholic Church.
I notice a baptism and the family poses for a picture.
The interior of the church is nice but cant compare with the mosque across the street. In Jordan 90 percent of the population are Suni Muslims.
Nice.
We venture to the top of a mountain over Amman known as Citadel Hill. Citadel Hill has Roman architectural remains and a nice view of the city.
Overlooking Amman Jordan.
We tour a museum which contains some Dead Sea scrolls but got no pictures of them, just this entrance mural of Jordan.
Photo op while touring the Roman archeological digs.
Huge Jordanian flag over the city.
More photo ops.
