This is the start of the second leg of our two part journey to Southern India and Sri Lanka. After a short flight from Chennai, India, we land at the Colombo Airport about 1 a.m. and head north to our hotel in Negombo to start our adventure in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka experience will include coastal regions, high tropical forests, many historical sites, a few good climbs, and a restful end in Unawatuna resort. We will cover most of the country and hope you enjoy this trip as much as we did.
After our early a.m. arrival we are pleasantly surprised to see this view of the Indian Ocean in the morning. Just lovely!
Please wait, movie loading. Our morning walk along the beach as we enjoy the sight of the fishing boat. Today we will drive to Anuradhapura and will be making a few stops along the way.
As we travel towards our first stop at a fishing village we pass by this large church festooned with red flags indicating a celebration is to occur. Colombo and this area is predominately Catholic.
We are amazed at the variety goods we see for sale in every doorway, this shop is full of cookware.
On the way to Anuradhhapurra, our first stop is at the fishing village in Negombo where the beach is covered with the morning catch laid out to dry.
It is a popular market where people come to look at the catch and decide what to buy.
